Bowen Island Family Place, now a program of the Bowen Children’s Centre, was established as a non-profit organization in 1989 to support and enrich family life on Bowen Island. Family Place is a drop-in centre for parents/caregivers and their children ages 0-6 to play and socialize. The programs offer play-based programming for young children, while promoting connections between parents and their children, families and the community.
Our program facilitators:
focus on strength-based support for families, and links parents and caregivers to family resources (on and off island) as needed;
provide a safe and engaging environment that focuses on developmentally appropriate play-based activities for children;
participate in ongoing professional development to support working with families; and
have training in Early Childhood Education and Family Resource Work.
Our services include:
clothing, toy and book exchange;
a resource lending library;
child care information;
health information; and
regular communication with members
Where possible, Bowen Island Family Place partners with other organizations to provide parent education and other early childhood programs.
